Terms and Conditions
Scope
All pat testing work will be carried out according to the Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. All fixed equipment is excluded.
Because the IEE code of practice for in-service inspections and testing of electrical equipment does not deal with legislation relating to the supply of equipment whether new or second-hand, to a third party by way of sale or other method Alan Wain will not test any equipment which is intended for supply to a third party. Any equipment made available for supply at any time after being tested by Alan Wain will null and void the test results. Certification will not be provided for single items tested.
Procedure
All pat testing is carried out at the owner’s risk.
The customer shall ensure that it complies with all statutory requirements including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act,
P. U. W. E. R. and Electricity at Work Regulations.
A competent person shall be provided by the customer to meet Alan Wain, to advise on any site safety information needed and any potential hazards when working at the customer’s premises and also ensure the availability of appliances for pat testing.
Any previous records of tests must be made available to Alan Wain before testing commences.
A complete list of appliances should be made available by the customer. In the absence of such a list Alan Wain will provide a retrospective list of appliances tested. This will be deemed the extent of the contract.
Each extension lead and detachable power cord will be deemed a separate appliance as recommended in the code of practice, and will be tested as such.
All in-service appliances must be made easily accessible for Alan Wain, whose decision for suitability for test is final.
Alan Wain will decide on the inspection and / or in-service tests applicable to each item. This may depend, amongst other factors, on location, condition and accessibility. Alan Wain may decline to test any item. Alan Wain’s decision will be final. If visual inspection only is carried out, this will be charged as a complete test.
Results of testing and inspection will be reported, by labelling and presentation to a responsible person.
Certification, including detailed test results will be sent by post within one month of receipt of full payment. Certification may be hard copy or digital format, at Alan Wain’s discretion.
Business Equipment
The customer shall ensure that any critical information or data has been protected / backed up prior to the start of inspection and testing.
IT equipment must be closed down and restarted by the customer’s personnel or designated responsible representative in order to test. In the event that this is not possible, only the relevant inspections will be carried out.
Other business equipment with programmed memory functions, e.g., video recorders, electronic timers, alarms and cash registers will only be switched off with the express permission of a responsible person. Any reprogramming after switching on must be carried out by the customer.
Liability
Alan Wain accepts no liability for injury, loss or damage for appliances that are not made available or are inaccessible during the agreed pat test / inspection period.
Alan Wain accepts no liability for injury, loss or damage for appliances that are found to be faulty before or after pat testing.
Alan Wain provides insurance cover for public liability. No liability is accepted for any business interruption, loss of data or business information, losses to business related services or loss to business profits.
The customer agrees to comply with all current legislation.
Terms of Payment
Payment is due on completion of testing, unless otherwise agreed in advance. The ownership of the test results remain the property of Alan Wain until all invoices are paid in full.
